Aluminum is often the metal of choice for custom hinge applications in industrial settings as aluminum boasts unique properties that set it apart from other materials. At Midlake, we manufacture custom aluminum hinges from scratch and can make necessary adjustments to stock hinge in order to create the perfect item for your project needs.
Materials and Finishes for Aluminum Hinges
We stock a range of standard continuous aluminum hinges that can be tooled to your specifications, whether it is forming hinge leaves, cutting it to a specific length, or punching holes exactly where you need them. When a modified stock hinge just won’t suffice, we are also able to start from a flat sheet of aluminum and produce your hinge from scratch using either our shear to cut the profile of the hinge or laser cutting, which could also include special cut-outs, hole sizes or special angles. And if you contact us early on in the process, our knowledgeable and helpful sales engineers can determine the ideal aluminum hinge configuration for your project.
Our current curling equipment is able to produce custom hinges in the following thickness and pin diameters:
- 0.035” thick material can be curled around a 0.125” diameter pin
- 0.048” thick material can be curled around a 0.125” diameter pin
- 0.060” thick material can be curled around a 0.125” diameter pin, 0.156” diameter pin, or a 0.187” diameter pin
- 0.074” thick material can be curled around a 0.156” diameter pin, 0.187” diameter pin, or a 0.250” diameter pin
- 0.090\\\" thick material can be curled around a 0.187\\\" diameter pin or 0.250\\\" diameter pin
- 0.120\\\" thick material can be curled around a 0.250\\\" diameter pin or a 0.375\\\"
You can also choose from a variety of finishes to perfect your custom or standard aluminum hinge when you work with Midlake.
