What is a latch hinge? It is exactly what it sounds like. It is a hinge with a latch mechanism attached and combined as a single piece of hardware.
Latch hinges will more than likely include a spring release; however they can be produced without them. When combined with a spring hinge, it will have either a single handle, or a set of handles that are loaded with the springs. This set of springs will release the door from its latch by pulling it toward the center.
Produced without the spring hinge, a latch hinge will normally have a simple hole or slot and can be easily installed with screws, rivets or preferably welding.
