We have been utilizing Midlake Products & Mfg. to supply metal components used in the Orthopaedics industry since 2001. The relationship began when searching for a specialty hinge but has grown significantly over the years from dedicated bracket sourcing to finishing and coating operations to dock to stock kitting of metal components ready for final assembly. Today, we utilize Midlake for nearly 100% of its sheet metal outsourcing requirements.

As in any manufacturing environment, problems do occur. Material issues, customer driven delivery horizons and the cyclical nature of the medical market provide their share of challenges which are handled professionally and courteously by Midlake’s staff lead by their President, Jeff Rich. Due to the length of the business relationship I have come to know Mr. Rich personally. He holds customer needs at the forefront of his operations leading by example and daily involvement in business operations.

When the Metals Group at Diebold was looking for someone to help address workload spikes in our Model Shop, our Procurement organization recommended Midlake. We contacted Midlake to gauge their interest, arranged a tour of their facility to get a better understanding of their capabilities and were impressed. Midlake had been a supplier of custom hinges to Diebold for many years but we were not aware of the capacity they had available for other sheet metal work. We explained that our interaction would be very random but, when we did contact them, we would need a very rapid turnaround. They indicated they could handle any situation we presented them and were anxious to partner with us.

We have used Midlake on numerous occasions since that initial visit and they have exceeded all our expectations. We just supply them with our requirement, a drawing and a CAD file and they take care of everything else. We receive completely finished parts (including plating and/or painting) delivered to our dock on-time. The quality of the finished parts is excellent and they have never missed a commitment date, sometimes even under very demanding circumstances. They have never refused an order from us and somehow always manage to incorporate our last minute requests into their existing workload. Our production facility in Lynchburg Virginia has also used Midlake to produce flat laser cut parts when they see workload spikes.

I can definitely recommend Midlake to anyone who needs sheet metal parts made accurately and on-time.
